Who we are

What you can do with this site

Read everything. Share links. Quote short excerpts with attribution. Submit memories, photos, listings, and corrections — by submitting, you grant Fat Monk Media a non-exclusive, perpetual license to publish your submission on the network. You keep ownership of anything you submit.

What we ask you not to do

Don't scrape the site. Don't republish whole pages. Don't impersonate other readers, businesses, or our editors. Don't use submissions to defame, harass, or out anyone — we'll remove and ban.

Privacy: what we collect

We collect the minimum we need to run the site:

• Server logs — page views, IP, user-agent. Retained 30 days for diagnostics, then deleted.
• Analytics — Plausible.io, cookieless, no fingerprinting, no individual tracking. Aggregate stats only.
• Newsletter signups — your email goes to Beehiiv (our mailer). Unsubscribe link on every email.
• Account data — if you create a network account, we store your email, display name, and the sites you've interacted with. You can delete the account from your profile page at any time.
• Submitted memories or listings — published as you sent them, with edits for spelling/length. We can remove on request.

What we don't do

We don't run programmatic ads. We don't sell reader data. We don't use third-party trackers beyond the cookieless analytics above. We don't require an account to read anything.

Cookies

We set a small session cookie when you sign in. Cloudflare may set a bot-detection cookie on heavy-bot routes. That's it. No advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking.

Your rights

Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) and Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act, you can ask us what we know about you and ask us to delete it. Email jordan@fatmonkmedia.com and we'll respond within 30 days, usually faster.

Corrections and complaints

Found a factual error? Email the editor. We correct mistakes publicly with a dated note. Disagree with editorial judgment? Same email. We may not agree with you, but we read every note.

Liability

This site is provided as-is. We try hard to be accurate, but we can't guarantee event times, business hours, or external links. Verify with the venue/business before you make plans.

Changes to these terms

We'll post any material changes to this page with a new effective date and a short note about what changed. By continuing to use the site after a change, you agree to the new terms.
